Leather + Lace

My November 2011 NanoWriMo project!

By the time November finished I'd done over 50,000 words but the middle required a substantial re-write. It wasn't soggy, it was full of air!
I'm having great fun writing this. Each chapter has ended up being one of Stevie's songs.

The content is definitely +18, so I'm shifting the first chapter behind the scenes!

While on the surface Stevie is very pretty, her voice can be surprisingly husky and deep at times.

Some Background


"Leather + Lace" is the second of what I hope will be a number of stand alone books whose characters will make cameo appearances in each other stories. The theme of the series is "Opposites Attract" and the plus symbol shows that when they do the resultant sum is a different product.

I emphasised this in "Red+Blue" by switching the POV from dual first person to third.

"Leather+Lace" is a lot simpler, as it is only in first person.

The story was inspired by Australia's drag artists, especially Amelia Aairhead and Dallas Dellaforce. Seeing these guys in real life and then in drag really is an amazing transformation. But that was just the start and drag here is just a cloak that my hero, Joe, hides under. It's finding a place for the real Joe in the world that's one of the themes of my story.

While it's very much based in the world of BDSM and leather, there are no actual scenes of BDSM in the book. This deals more with the aftermath, the effects and the culture rather than the physical aspects of the scene, so those turned off by the concept may actually find it interesting.
