Historical Fiction
Based on Diaries and Letters of the time, this is the tale of one of the first Europeans to settle in New Zealand.
Thomas Kendall and his family were part of the first group of Europeans to live in New Zealand. His role as a lay missionary and teacher brought him into close contact with the natives and chiefs of the Bay of Islands where they settled. As he had the best command of the maori language and studied it extensively, he became the central figure in the sometimes uneasy and often difficult relationship between the two groups.
